InQuinity can offer expertise and consulting on a wide range of materials and their physical and chemical characterization in order to support you to choose the right material and get to know it much better. By knowing and giving insights to the production process of these materials and products, a deep understanding of your needs can be ensured.
Areas of Expertise
My heart beats for Power Electronics, because it is one key enabler of a greener and more sustainable tomorrow. With working for seven years at the market leader for DBC- and AMB-substrates in different management roles, including Measuring Laboratory, New Material and Process Technology and global Quality Manager, I have firsthand experience and understanding about the whole value stream starting from raw materials to finished Power Modules.
There is a big variety of experience due to working with and auditing ceramic and copper producers worldwide, but also by visiting and discussing with the global Top Players in Power Module production.
Moreover, I am offering entrance to a big network of keyplayers within Power Electronic industry, ranging from research facilities, over ceramic and copper, over DBC and AMB manufacturers up to Power Module Makers, which are willing to make a difference in the world of today and tomorrow.
Ceramics used in DBCs or AMBs substrates have a lot of essential material characteristics. However also production process knowledge should be considered, if you want to choose between Alumina (Al2O3), Zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA), aluminum nitride (AlN) and / or silicon nitride (Si3N4). Beside relatively easy properties, like general dimensions (size and thickness), it is important to consider thermal conductivity, dielectric strength, flexural strength, etc, to name just a few. I help you to choose the right analysis method and connect you with the best measurement providers resulting in the most accurate analysis.
Furthermore, understanding about copper and other used metals or its composites is mandatory in order to really be able to join ceramic and copper by direct bonding (DBC) or active metal brazing (AMB) and produce ready to use substrates.
Deep measurement experience and understanding in:
· Flatness (Warpage, Undulation)
· Hysteresis
· Roughness
· Ultrasonic
· X-Ray
· SEM/EDS
· Dielectric strength
· Electrical Resistance
· Partial Discharge
· Peeling strength (DBC, AMB)
· Flexural strength (ceramic, substrate)
· Penetration test
· Thermal shock
· Thermal Cycling
